Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) defines the activities that are permitted and prohibited on VK Hosting infrastructure. All clients must comply with this policy.

Last updated: February 1, 2025

1. Purpose and Scope

This Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) is designed to ensure a safe, reliable and lawful hosting environment for all VK Hosting clients. It applies to all services purchased from VK Hosting, including dedicated servers, managed hosting and any associated network resources.

By using our services, you agree to comply with this AUP. We reserve the right to modify this policy at any time, and clients will be notified of significant changes. Violations may result in suspension or termination of services without refund.

2. Prohibited Activities

The following activities are strictly prohibited on VK Hosting infrastructure:

  • Spam and unsolicited email: sending bulk unsolicited email, running open mail relays, or advertising services via spam, regardless of whether the email originates from our network.
  • Illegal content: hosting, transmitting or linking to material that is illegal under applicable law, including child exploitation content, terrorist content or content violating intellectual property rights.
  • Malware and exploits: distributing viruses, worms, trojans, ransomware, spyware or any malicious code, or hosting exploit kits and phishing pages.
  • Network abuse: port scanning, packet flooding, SNMP scanning, password cracking or any attempt to gain unauthorized access to systems or networks.
  • DDoS attacks: launching, participating in or facilitating distributed denial-of-service attacks against any target.
  • Copyright infringement: hosting pirated software, movies, music, books or any content that violates copyright law.
  • Botnets and command-and-control: operating botnet infrastructure, C2 servers or proxy networks designed to facilitate abuse.
  • Fraud and scams: hosting content related to financial fraud, pyramid schemes, fake investment platforms or advance-fee fraud.
  • Hate speech and harassment: hosting content that promotes violence, hatred or discrimination against protected groups, or material designed to harass individuals.
  • Tor exit nodes: operating Tor exit nodes without prior written authorization from VK Hosting.
  • Cryptojacking: using our infrastructure to mine cryptocurrency without explicit authorization, or deploying mining malware.

3. Network and System Security

Clients must maintain the security of their own servers and must not:

  • Attempt to circumvent or breach our network security measures or monitoring systems.
  • Interfere with the service of other clients or consume disproportionate shared resources.
  • Use our services to probe, scan or test the vulnerability of any system or network without authorization.
  • Deploy services that generate excessive inbound or outbound traffic that disrupts network operations.
  • Spoof IP addresses, email headers or any identifying information.

4. Email and Communications Policy

Clients who operate mail servers must implement proper authentication and abuse prevention measures, including:

  • SPF, DKIM and DMARC records for all sending domains.
  • Rate limiting and monitoring of outbound email volume.
  • Prompt handling of abuse complaints and unsubscribe requests.
  • Compliance with the CAN-SPAM Act and equivalent international regulations.
  • No use of harvested or purchased email lists without verifiable consent.

Servers identified as sources of spam may be null-routed or suspended immediately to protect network reputation.

5. Resource Usage

While we offer generous and unlimited bandwidth options on many plans, “unlimited” does not mean “unreasonable.” Clients must not use services in a manner that disproportionately consumes network resources or degrades performance for other clients.

We reserve the right to rate-limit or throttle traffic that consistently saturates ports in a manner inconsistent with normal server operation, or that appears to be used for bulk data transfer unrelated to the client’s hosted applications.

6. IP Address Usage

All IPv4 and IPv6 addresses are allocated based on documented technical need and regional internet registry (RIR) justification. Clients must:

  • Provide valid justification for all IP allocations (e.g., SSL certificates, specific applications requiring dedicated IPs).
  • Use allocated IPs only for the purposes stated in the justification.
  • Not sub-lease, sell or transfer IP addresses to third parties.
  • Understand that IP addresses are assigned, not owned, and remain the property of VK Hosting.

Allocations of up to 253 IPv4 addresses require enhanced justification and are subject to additional review. Misuse of IP allocations may result in reclamation.

7. Content Removal and Takedown

We respond to legitimate abuse reports and takedown requests. If we receive a credible report that content on your server violates this AUP or applicable law, we may:

  • Notify you and request removal or remediation within a specified timeframe.
  • Temporarily suspend the affected service or null-route the associated IP if the issue is urgent.
  • Permanently terminate the service for serious or repeated violations.

We comply with valid DMCA takedown notices and equivalent legal processes. Copyright holders should submit notices to abuse@vkhosting.com.

8. Reporting Abuse

If you become aware of abusive activity originating from VK Hosting infrastructure, please report it to our abuse team:

  • Email: abuse@vkhosting.com
  • Include: offending IP address, timestamp, nature of the abuse and relevant logs or evidence.

We investigate all credible abuse reports and take appropriate action, typically within 24 hours.

9. Enforcement

Violations of this AUP may result in the following actions, at our discretion:

  • Warning: a formal notice for first-time or minor violations, with a deadline for remediation.
  • Suspension: immediate suspension of the affected service for serious or ongoing violations.
  • Termination: permanent termination of the account for severe, repeated or illegal activity, without refund.
  • Legal action: referral to law enforcement or legal proceedings for activities involving illegal content or serious harm.

We cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies investigating criminal activity conducted through our services.

10. Reinstatement

Suspended services may be reinstated after the client demonstrates that the violating content or activity has been removed and measures have been taken to prevent recurrence. A reinstatement fee may apply. Repeated violations will result in permanent account closure.

11. Changes to This AUP

We may update this Acceptable Use Policy at any time. Significant changes will be posted on this page and may be communicated via email. Continued use of our services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
